Story Feature: Something Wrong, Someone Right

designed on FanFiction's image editor powered by Aviary

So as the story that started it all for me on Wattpad...

Wait- that's not right.

Something Wrong, Someone Right was the story I started with. Originally written on a whim, I have gotten just about nowhere with the story, and have started plenty more to keep me busy. However, I am trying to get back to writing this one, as I have been neglecting it terribly.

One of my techniques for trying to continue a story that I have long since forgotten where it was headed is rereading it over and over again. Eventually I'll get a vague idea as to where it was headed, so I might write down a few notes on a piece of paper or type them up on my laptop or on my phone.

This does create an issue, however, I do realize that. The notes can get lost, or you may delete them by accident. Trust me, I know what that's like. The main reason I forgot where the story was going was because I lost my original notes on the story back when I only had the prologue up. My phone decided to delete a whole bunch of my notes to conserve space. Genius device, right? Well, I have my phone notes connected to my email, so I quickly went there and looked for them. They were completely gone. I couldn't even begin to remember where I was going without those notes! All my other notes were there, but those ones weren't. I cannot believe my phone did that to me.

With that in mind, something else I've tried and do recommend is simply writing the scene or part that you know, and work around that, whether by backtracking or moving forward. Writing what you do know ensures you won't forget it as easily, and helps you use the creative juices you have instead of using air. I do this quite often, as my story The Lost Sister (also on Wattpad, and my second story on the site) was written in pieces before I started uploading them and writing the story from there. My phone was nice and kept a few of them, but the rest I only have because the notes are connected to my email. If I lost those I'd be dead, as I don't really remember what I was writing. I'll have to reread them soon.

I think my blurb will suffice, as well as pictures of the characters. *smiles innocently* I have to make sure you will read it, no?

Something went wrong down the road of suicide and rape.

Agatha's life hits rough seas, so-to-speak, when a man she meets in a coffee shop offers to help her commit suicide or fix her life. Having no right judgement after years of not caring, she accepts his help, but after three months, he finally poses the question again: "Do you still wish do die, or shall I walk away?" Already shocked, Agatha refuses to answer, leading her on a one-way journey to the realm in which she should have been born: the realm of magic and mystery.

"It's strange. It's almost like going to bed one night and waking up in a fairy tale the next."

Once she learns more about this myserious realm, she decides the abundance of vampires, elves, faeries, and other mythical creatures is acceptable...until she learns about the dreaded curse.

That's the blurb. Everything moves much faster than I would like, but I have lost most of the idea of where the story was going, so I have to say that for moving quickly, it's decent. Then again, I hate my writing, so some readers may think differently.

Moving on to characters:
Agatha Nunes, age 21. This the main character in close representaitons of several outfits she will appear in or already has appeared in.

Princess Aryan, Queen Lanafae III, and King Riharan II of Opaq, the capital of the Elven Kingdom. Yes, they are elves. They are very important characters.

Theo Gratius in close representaitons of several outfits he will appear in or already has appeared in.

Master Garris Shae, TeFeh's right-hand man- er, Faerren, Marianne Foae, TeFeh's right-hand female Faerren and love interest, and Paen TeFeh, Elíjet leader. All are Faerrens, and therefore all are the enemies. They are all in close representaitons of several outfits they will appear in or already have appeared in.

I like to use Doll Divine and Azalea's Dolls to create images of my characters. It helps me visualize them, plus the doll and scene makers are very, very addictive! The scene maker I used for these characters was the new Lord of the Rings/Hobbit Scene Maker that is on both websites (though the link takes you to Doll Divine's game). The two sites have the same exact game; nothing is added or removed, although Doll Divine does add a different save option to save your image to Doll Divine's galleries or your own if you choose to make an account. Azalea's Dolls does not have a gallery or accounts, so you have to save the images to your computer.
Other games I recommend are Erté Elegance, Neptune's Daughter, The Tudors Scene Maker, Game of Thrones Scene Maker, and Pixie Scene Maker on Doll Divine, and Heroine Fan-Art Creator, Goddess Dress Up, Dark Fairy Dress Up, Male Warrior Dress Up , Velvet Fashion, and Portrait Maker on Azalea's Dolls. Most of the games on Azalea's Dolls require taking a screenshot of the completed doll or scene, as there may not be a save or download button. Some of those on Doll Divine also require screenshotting, but most can be downloaded directly to your computer or saved to the galleries, where you can right click and save or drag the image from the website to your desktop.
Hope you enjoy my story, and hope the advice enclosed in this story feature helps you in your writing.

Stay strong, breathe, and keep on writing!

About Me and this Blog

Hello there!

My name is Danielle, and I happen to be only 15 years old. I live in the US of A with my mom, stepfather, and two cats. I started playing the viola in fourth grade for my school's orchestra, and haven't put it down. Instead, I added guitar, which I taught myself how to play in eighth grade, and piano, which I taught myself in ninth. I'm going to be a sophomore in the coming school year, and am still taking all honors classes.

My cat Philip and I, Spring '13

When did I find my love of writing?

I guess you could say writing found me, actually. It was first grade, and I had moved to a new town after both my grandparents passed away, so I was very quiet and didn't know anyone. I felt small in my school, even though there were less students attending it than my old one. One day, however, my teacher pulled me aside and gave me paper and a pencil and said, "Write whatever you want, and I'll put it on the wall." So, I wrote about my cat Philip. It was a silly first-grader piece, where I talked about how cute he was and how we played "Lion King" and how on one page he was six weeks and on another he was six months (when really he was maybe two or three years old). It really didn't matter. For a first grader, the piece was fantastic. My teacher and family were so proud of me, and I happened to love writing it. Later in the year, my teacher helped us write poetry portfolios. Again, I was in love. She had us read our poetry at a mock coffeehouse held in our classroom with parents and other guests, and I was the only one she let read two of my poems and showcase their drawings that were laminated onto the backs.

Philip then and now, '03 and '13

I still have those poems and that story in a box up in my attic.

Now that I'm somewhat older, I write much more than simple acrostic poems or poems just stating what I see on my way to school, and I write much more than a silly, inconsistent, non-fiction story about my beloved cat. Thanks to taking honors English last year and having a fantastic teacher for Reading in eighth grade, I learned what makes timeless literature loved and enjoyed. Through the writing of the greats, like Charles Dickens, William Shakespeare, and Harper Lee, I learned just how to add in my symbolism and character changes, as well as many other things. In the past year alone I have learned so much more from reading the work of others and then dissecting it in my honors English class than I have in any Language Arts or Writing class in elementary and middle school.

This is where my blog comes in.

Many of my friends aspire to be writers like me, so they're constantly asking me for advice or to read some of their work and critique it and help them make it better. My advice and tips helps them quite a bit, even though they have so much natural talent. So, thanks to my mom's encouragement and the knowledge that I love to help others, I figured I'd share my tips and advice with anyone who stumbles across my blog. I will try to give a daily tip or piece of advice, and possibly share some of my own writing as well as my writing process, workspace, and the way I gather inspiration. I will share some of that inspiration with you all as well, in high hopes that you, too, will be inspired by it. I also encourage you to post pieces of your writing in the comments for me to post here and help you improve it. Granted, I don't know it all, but I learn fast and hopefully what I learn and teach can be a great success for everyone.

I hope that you all find this helpful, whether it be just in finding inspiration or in helping improve your own writing.
